| Amicus Briefs As part of our New York
Chapter’s commitment to advance the cause of matrimonial
law, and on a pro bono basis, to the extent that the Board
of Managers determines that a significant legal or social
issue is raised in a case being litigated at the appellate
level, permission is sought to file an Amicus (Friend of the
Court) Brief with the court. The Amicus Brief advocates what
the AAML - New York Chapter believes to be the correct public
policy or legal position raised in the case. Often, the Academy’s
position is adopted, or referred to, by the appellate court
in the written decision.
As an accommodation to the Bar and the public at large,
the recent Amicus Briefs, filed by the AAML - New York Chapter,
are annexed below.
